Sox Top Shockers 10-6
Green Sox defeated the Shockers 10-6 with a four run ninth to boost their playoff aspirations. Andy Espinoza keyed the 1 out rally with a big hit, sandwiched between two errors, and Haakon Stepperud (4-4, BB, 3R, RBI) delivered the game winning hit. The Shockers had tied the score 6-6 in the eighth on an unearned run. Chuck Federico was terrific in relief. He came on in the 3rd with the Sox up 5-3 and kept the Shockers in check, working 7 innings, striking out 6 and giving up 2 earned runs. Gabe Helgerson went 3-4 with a Sac fly and 3 RBI and Chis Hackett went 2-3 with a walk. Great win for the Sox! Next up is a huge weekend against the Spartans and the Cannons, the two teams directly in front of the Sox and their bid at a playoff spot. Go Green Sox!!!! STATS ARE POSTED

Two Games Greet the Green Sox as Season Resumes
Fresh of a huge victory and the Fourth of July break, the Green Sox return to action this weekend with two games. First up on Saturday morning, the Shockers come to North High School at 9am as the visitors in a make up game. On Sunday, the Green Sox play host again at Machebeuf High to the first place Mudcats. The Sox are looking to build momentum toward a playoff spot. They currently sit a 1/2 a game out of the final spot. A victory or two would go a long way to changing that! Go Green Sox!!!

Green Sox Represent Well in Wood Bat Classic
For the second consecutive year, the Boulder Green Sox joined forces with the Spartans in the Mile High Wood Bat Classic over the Fourth of July weekend. And just like last season, they captured the 35 division Tournament championship over the Grizzlies. The Spartans, playing with only 9 players on a 95 degree day, were down 10-1 after 3 and 18-9 to the 15 Grizzlies in the 6th yet never gave up. Trailing 21-16 in the 9th with one in, the bases loaded (including Rob Mess who reach via a walk) and two outs, Eric Bopp hit one over the right centerfield fence for the Grand Slam, cutting the deficit to one. Next up was Scott Mess who worked an epic at bat into a walk and the tying run. After an infield hit , Jonas Jaeger of the Spartans hit a double, plating two and giving the team a 22-21 lead. Bopp then took the mound in the bottom of the 9th. He induced a double play ball for the first two outs. After back to back hits put runners on the corner, Eric reached back and got the strike out to end the game. Bopp was the game's MVP and Spartan manager Shane Mattox won the Gold Glove for his stellar work at the plate. A great victory and a fun time!
