| End of Spring Training, Season Opener Set for Sunday |
After a successful last preseason game verses league opponent, the Spartans, the real baseball is set to begin this Sunday, April 1st at North High School. The game which is also the team's home opener, will be against the Predators (1-1 last season). The 6th Season of Green Sox Baseball is dedicated to the memory of our beloved teammate and friend, #16 Jerry Brown. Jerry, a doubles machine, has played in more games with the team than anyone not named Mess and was the best of teammates. With key new additions Gary Hartshorn and Jonathan Lundstrom and the returning of former favorites Jeff Lindermeier and Joe Gudino, the team has bolster the returning core: Jimmy Z at short; James Beffel and Matt Zacher at the corners; Dwaine Pucket patroling the outfield; Scott Sage, catcher and outfielder; and hopefully some Joe Werne too joining Gary Mess, coach Rob Mess, manager Scott Mess (aka the Messyman) and third base coach Mike Mess. The team should be much improved in all areas in 2012 and have high hopes of deep post season run. The division remains largely intact from last season, save the return of the Spartans replacing Loc-Nar, so the competition should be about the same. When considering that the Sox lost or tied 5 games by 3 runs or less, the team's hope of a playoff spot are good given the team's improved talent and depth. So let's go out, have a blast and win some games! Go Green Sox!

| Annual Green Sox/BoCo Scrimmage Ushers in the Spring |
Ten of the fourteen Green Sox were able to attend the first workout against the BoCo to kick off the Spring. Rust was in evidence on most everyone, of course, as defense and hitting were inconsistent but all signs point to a very successful 2012 season. Scott Sage had a strong start behind the plate and with the bat; Gary Mess struck out six in two innings; Gary Hartshorn's pitched four strong innings that featured a devastating slider; Jonathan Lindstrum was blocking everything behind the dish; and Jeff Lindermeier and Joe Gudino returned, played well and showed that they will be big assets for the team going forward. Manager Messy got work in for every one at multiple positions as Matt Zacher, Rob Mess and Dwaine Pucket played all over, the skipper included as he played 2nd, SS, RF and pitched (including a couple of K's). It was great to get out there and play ball as a team again and sharpen up for opening day on April 1st. Look for an update for a practice on Sunday March 11 in advance of the March 18th scrimmage with Wicked Easy in Frederick. Go Green Sox!

As the season draws near, our preseason activities rev up with the scheduling of a scrimmage on Sunday March 4th at 11 am at Alameda High with the BoCo, a team in the 18 division. Please come out and get your game ready. We also have time booked at Extra Innings in Longmont again this Wednesday at 5pm. Get some cage work in with the bat or come and throw a side. The team's roster is also starting to round out. The Mess Bother's attended the annual NABA Draft on Sunday, February 26th and successfully added another pitcher to the team, right hander Gary Hartshorn. We have also filled another spot with outfielder Ben Bishop from Boulder. Welcome to the team, gentlemen! We still have one or possibly two spots left, so if you're interested or know someone who is, please email us at bo ... @yahoo.com The survey for the scrimmage is coming soon so please answer (yes) as soon as possible. See you all Wednesday or Sunday!
